Today I went to my first led class since i started mysore, since the shala at home does not have these. I was quite scared and ended up recieving lots of attention from Sharath largely by being one of the worst ones there I think.. First I got an assist in Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana followed by Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana where Sharath got me to bind for the first time ever and go down, I got down and then pannic how do I get up and flung my self up… nearly knocking Sharath over by sticking out my bum wildly as I came up “no need to be afraid” I then got adjusted in to mari B on the sticky side as I could not find it today and in to Mari C on both sides, before getting a headstand hold up too.
That’s like about 5x the adjustments I have had all week!
I then went to Alias for breakfast and chat and then went home had more food and headed out with some friends to hike up chimundy hill which turned out to be a bit of a bite off more that I could chew event, as I nearly got heatstroke halfway up, and had to stop and recover myself. I had a good time though when we got to the top and went in to the temple and drank coke. I also have some rather patchy sunburn to demonstrate where I failed to apply the sun cream right.
We then went back to the house of the man who took us on the hike who is a local friend of one of my yoga friends. And had lots of food and chat, he is definitely one of the few atheist Indians around and had an amazing mother who was an artist.
Followed by a four to a rickshaw ride home, which left me with a numb leg for a while afterwards. But made me feel quite Indian, even if I did have to resist the child begging with a baby which was quite uncomfortable hmm
Ugh the hike to Chamundi Hill is EVIL. I remember having sore Achilles tendons for days afterwards. And the kids that begging, that’s really tough and I don’t think anyone ever gets used to it.
Ohh, I’m so jealous. Have a fab time in Mysore
yep chamundi hike, evil is SO right!
